Scott Homan, CFL1, L2, Olympic Lifting, Gymnastics, Aerobic Capacity

As the co-owner of CrossFit Goderich, Scott brings 15 years of CrossFit experience and a deep passion for community building to everything he does. With a math degree from the University of Waterloo and experience as a part-time contractor, Scott combines analytical thinking with practical application to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for athletes of all levels.

Scott's favourite movement is the snatch – one of the most technical lifts in CrossFit – which perfectly reflects his appreciation for precision, technique, and continuous learning. He's drawn to the complexity and elegance of Olympic lifting, and his expertise in this area has helped countless athletes master these challenging movements.

What Scott loves most about CrossFit is the community it fosters. His coaching philosophy centers on seeing people become stronger and more confident, knowing that these improvements often lead to better lifestyle choices across the board. He's committed to making every workout inclusive and accessible, ensuring that everyone who walks through the doors feels welcome and challenged at their appropriate level. Scott's vision for CFG includes ongoing coach development and expanding offerings like Olympic lifting classes to serve the diverse needs of the community.

Scott is also a competiive level Masters Athletes and is competing in the CrossFit Games in August 2025

Jennifer Morris, CfL1, L2, Kids, Gymnastics, Nutritionist

As co-owner of CrossFit Goderich, Jennifer brings an impressive 16 years of CrossFit experience and coaching expertise to the CFG community. A former competitive CrossFit Games athlete, she's dedicated the last 16 years to both coaching and CrossFit box ownership, establishing herself as a true pioneer in the sport. Her favorite movements – overhead squats and toes to bar – showcase her love for technical precision and gymnastic skill development.

Jennifer holds a Master's degree in Food Science and Nutrition, making her not just a phenomenal coach but also a qualified nutritionist who understands the complete picture of health and wellness. Her educational background perfectly complements her coaching philosophy of "form first, then load, then intensity" – a methodical approach that ensures athletes build solid foundations before progressing to more challenging variations.

What sets Jennifer apart is her passion for helping people breakthrough perceived limitations, particularly when it comes to age-related barriers. She specializes in coaching older athletes and firmly believes that "age is just a number." Her expertise spans multiple disciplines – she's competed in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and Olympic lifting – giving her a comprehensive understanding of various training methodologies.

Jennifer leads mobility and movement classes at CFG, emphasizing the importance of movement quality and injury prevention. Outside the gym, you'll find her hiking with her husband Scott and their Vizsla, Oly, or volunteering actively in the Goderich community. Always up for any kind of physical challenge, Jennifer embodies the spirit of lifelong fitness and continues to inspire athletes of all ages to push beyond what they thought possible.

Aryn Buchannan, CFL1

Aryn brings 5 years of CrossFit experience and an infectious enthusiasm for community building to the CFG team. As a social worker by profession, she brings a unique perspective to coaching that emphasizes meeting people exactly where they are in their fitness journey. Her love for travel and reputation as a "great gym DJ" adds energy and fun to every session she leads.

What draws Aryn to CrossFit is the sense of community and the opportunity to become her best self through fitness. Her favorite movement is the clean and jerk – because, as she puts it, "why not?" This playful attitude combined with serious dedication makes her coaching style both approachable and motivating.

Aryn finds great pride in coaching individuals from all fitness and life backgrounds, focusing on helping each person be just 1% better in whatever way they show up to the gym that day. Her background in social work shines through in her ability to create non-judgmental spaces where everyone feels welcomed with open arms. She's passionate about skill development and believes in building progression work into regular programming so members can continuously develop challenging movements like pull-ups and handstand push-ups. Aryn's gratitude for the CFG community runs deep – she describes walking into the gym 5 years ago as a life-changing moment and considers her coaching family an essential support system in her fitness journey.

Keegan McCoy, CFL1

Keegan moved to Goderich in 2019 with his wife and two kids, and quickly discovered that CrossFit was the perfect fit for his lifestyle. With 3 years of experience, he's fallen in love with the variety and intensity that allows him to accomplish so much in such a short time. As an electrician by trade, Keegan appreciates efficiency and results – both of which CrossFit delivers in spades.

His journey to mastering muscle-ups exemplifies his approach to fitness: patient, persistent, and ultimately rewarding. Keegan had to work for a long time to nail this challenging movement, and that experience taught him valuable lessons about dedication and progression that he now shares with his athletes.

What drives Keegan as a coach is his genuine desire to contribute positively to other people's health and well-being. He's particularly passionate about gymnastic and calisthenic movements, believing that skills like handstand walking and muscle-ups deserve more attention alongside traditional strength training. Outside the gym, you'll find Keegan traveling with his family, trying new foods, going on long hikes, or getting lost in a good book. His well-rounded approach to life translates into coaching that emphasizes both physical development and overall lifestyle enhancement.

Sloan Puska, CFL1

Sloan has been immersed in the world of CrossFit since she was just 7 years old, and has been a dedicated member of the CFG community for 3 years. Currently studying psychology at York University, she brings both youthful energy and academic insight to her coaching approach.

What sets Sloan apart is her passion for handstands and gymnastics movements – you'll often find her perfecting handstand walks and handstand push-ups with seemingly effortless grace. She's drawn to CrossFit for the incredible atmosphere and the amazing people she's met along the way.

As a coach, Sloan is committed to helping young athletes develop transferable skills that extend far beyond the gym walls. Her goal is simple but powerful: ensuring every person leaves each session feeling empowered, strong, and genuinely proud of what they've accomplished. With dreams of opening her own gym one day, Sloan's enthusiasm for fitness and community building is truly infectious.

Tim Damon, Yoga Instructor and Holistic Life Coach

Tim is our resident Yoga Instructor. He brings a unique blend of CrossFit enthusiasm and mindful movement to the CFG community. With 2 years of CrossFit under his belt, he's discovered that this amazing fitness methodology is truly a way to level up in life. His favourite movement? Toes to bar – because, as he puts it, "swinging and kicking while hanging from a bar is my idea of a good time!"

Beyond CrossFit, Tim is an embodied life coach, marketer, and self-proclaimed "coffee slinger extraordinaire" who brings grounded wisdom and an open heart to everything he does. His coaching extends into yoga, where he specializes in bringing people together and building community through the transformative power of collective breath and movement.

Tim loves coaching because of the beautiful connections it creates. Whether it's supporting others in cultivating body and breath awareness or experiencing the magic that happens when everyone in a room is breathing and moving together, he's all about that community vibe. His approach combines fitness expertise with a holistic understanding of wellness, making him a perfect fit for athletes looking to deepen their mind-body connection.

Rob McIntosh, CFL1, CF Kids

Rob brings 9 years of CrossFit experience and a passion for continuous learning to the CFG coaching team. Working as a Corporate Training Manager, he understands the importance of education and skill development both in and out of the gym. What Rob loves most about CrossFit is how it keeps him learning while making him feel stronger in all areas of life.

His favorite movement is the front squat – a demanding exercise that requires full-body control, great posture, and serious core engagement. Rob appreciates the technical aspects of CrossFit and believes in perfecting form through dedicated practice. He's particularly passionate about Olympic lifting and powerlifting movements, often advocating for more focused training sessions on these foundational skills.

As a coach, Rob's philosophy goes beyond fitness – he's committed to empowering people to realize they're capable of more than they thought. His analytical approach to coaching, combined with his corporate training background, makes him excellent at breaking down complex movements and helping athletes understand the "why" behind each exercise. Rob has a great sense of humor (he admits to missing more double-unders than he cares to count) and believes in creating an environment where learning and improvement happen naturally. His enthusiasm for weekend clinics and skill development sessions reflects his dedication to helping every athlete reach their potential.

Sherri Coleman, CFL1

With an impressive 13 years of CrossFit experience under her belt, Sherri brings both wisdom and unwavering dedication to the CFG coaching team. When she's not crushing challenging grinder workouts like Filthy 50 or Fight Gone Bad, you'll find her working as a Travel Consultant and manager for Robert Q Travel Goderich, where her commitment to loyalty shines through in everything she does.

Sherri's coaching philosophy centers on one core belief: everyone is capable of more than they think. She finds immense joy in witnessing athletes break through their perceived limitations and achieve things they never thought possible. Her keen eye for improvement and genuine care for each member's journey makes her an invaluable mentor.

What Sherri loves most about CrossFit is the tight-knit community it creates. She's particularly passionate about developing youth athletics and believes in creating comprehensive sport-related programs that help young athletes build strength and confidence. Her dedication to helping others achieve their goals is matched only by her own commitment to continuous improvement.

Ashley Leona Vanderburgh, CFL1

Ashley is a powerhouse both in and out of the gym. With 9 years of CrossFit experience, she's a multiple powerlifting national record holding mom who truly embodies the strength and determination that CrossFit cultivates. Working as an HRIS Analyst for the County of Huron, Ashley understands the importance of balance and showing up even when life gets overwhelming.

Her favorite movements revolve around the  “big three” – squat, bench, and deadlift – and she gravitates toward challenging workouts like DT, Grace, and Linda. But what really drives Ashley as a coach is her deep understanding of the mental game. She knows firsthand what it's like to feel anxious walking through those gym doors for the first time, and she's passionate about helping others navigate that journey.

Ashley describes CrossFit as "sweat therapy" – that incredible feeling of clarity and strength that comes after pushing through a tough workout. As a coach, she's dedicated to helping athletes build not just physical strength and endurance, but the confidence that comes from consistently showing up and celebrating small wins. Her approach is both empathetic and empowering, helping newcomers transform into athletes who make it all look effortless.
